The Jon Onye Lockard Foundation

Honoring and preserving the legacy of Detroit painter and educator Jon Onye Lockard

Mission Statement

The Foundation promotes and supports African American Culture through the visual arts. Using the West African principle of Sankofa as a guide, the Jon Onye Lockard Foundation seeks opportunities to encourage the inter-generational exchange of ideas between youth, elders and community.


Vision Statement

The intent of the Foundation reflects the philosophy and wisdom of educator and artist Jon Onye Lockard to preserve, promote and inspire African American Culture and History through the visual arts.
